Kim truly is proud to call Fulshear home, as this is where she and her husband Randy raised their children, established their business, and served the community for decades. It is a privilege that she enjoys, and in the spirit of service she is running for City Council to ensure every family enjoys the same benefit and privilege of raising their family in a safe and friendly community.
Kim has a deep-rooted commitment to the values that make our community strong. As a 26 year resident of our city, Kim understands the importance of responsible governance and fiscal stewardship, especially in light of our growing population and infrastructure challenges.
Kim believes it is important to pace development when infrastructure is in place to accommodate the new homeowners and businesses relocating to the Fulshear area. She also believes that building relationships and two-way communication is key in working with other government entities including Fort Bend County Commissioners Court, LCISD, KISD, Municipal Utility Districts located in Fulshear, Fort Bend County Drainage District, Fulshear-Simonton Fire Department and the many other entities that impact this community.
As a small business owner in downtown Fulshear, Kim understands the challenges facing entrepreneurs in today's environment. It is her desire to see small businesses make their home here and to thrive in Fulshear. This is why she and her husband helped establish and are active in the Fulshear-Katy Area Chamber of Commerce, an excellent resource for local businesses as well as organizer of fun community events. City Council members and City staff should collaborate with the Chamber and other economic development organizations to recruit commercial investments and high paying jobs to Fulshear such as medical and technology service providers. Kim understands the importance of having the right economic development, so the City's revenue streams are better diversified with sales tax and commercial property tax. Not having to depend so heavily on residential property taxes allows the City to move away from the current reputation of being a bedroom community and be in a healthier financial position.
Kim recognizes there are many unique features in each of the neighborhoods and master planned communities across the City of Fulshear and its extra-territorial jurisdiction (ETJ). As a former Realtor® and current insurance broker, she has the knowledge and experience to address flooding and mobility concerns as well as service and technology availability. Kim finds practical solutions to complex problems and understands that long-term planning is necessary for the City's future success.
Kim will listen and advocate for the needs of the community and will collaborate with fellow council members to enact policies that benefit all residents. Kim believes in actively engaging residents in decision-making processes to ensure that their voices are heard and their concerns addressed. With a focus on collaboration and consensus-building, Kim aims to bridge divides and work towards common-sense solutions to benefit all members of our community.
In her role as a Commissioner on the Fort Bend County Emergency Services District #4 (ESD#4) - Fulshear-Simonton Fire Department, Kim worked to proactively plan for the needs of our growing community to ensure services and facilities were in place for the safety of our community. During her tenure on ESD #4, she served as Treasurer for four years, overseeing a budget of approximately $14,000,000. The Central Station and Administrative Building located on FM 1093 next to Weston Lakes opened in October, 2022. Due to the responsible stewardship by current and former board members, this building will be paid in full approximately six years from now. Kim was also instrumental in evaluating the needs and specific locations for future fire stations.
As a candidate for City Council, Kim is focused on prioritizing infrastructure investment to support our growing community while ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent wisely. Kim is the candidate we need to lead us through these challenging times. Her practical approach, consideration of the different needs of the residents of Fulshear, and dedication to our community will ensure that our city remains a great place to live, work and raise a family for generations to come.
